In 1976, a group of visionary leaders gathered to create Arkansas’s first community foundation. With sound leadership and an initial $258,000 grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, the Arkansas Community Foundation began serving the State and its communities.
In the 1980s ARCF embarked on a new era of investing in Arkansas through local offices. The network of local people work in their home communities to build Arkansas at the grassroots level.
Today, the $258,000 initial investment has grown to over $130 million in assets through gifts and wise stewardship, and the Arkansas Community Foundation has given away more than $60 million to organizations and charitable causes in Arkansas. The statewide Foundation, along with 26 Affiliate Community Foundations, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all of Arkansans.
