EFCC's Spring 2009 Giving Tree Grant Recipients Announced

The Endowment Foundation of Cross County’s recent Donor/Grant event in the Meyer Senior Center brought smiles to representatives of fourteen local non-profit organizations who received grants totaling $13,500.  The EFCC donors attending were also smiling because they were happy to see their support of the Foundation paying off in a big way.  With these grants the EFCC has given $88,000 to local non-profits groups over the last six years.  Other grants have come from individual and organizational endowments.

Prior to the grant presentations, members of the Wynne High School Chamber Choir directed by Dan Phillians delighted the audience with medley of songs that they will perform in an upcoming competition.

Grants from the EFCC Giving Tree Endowment will either partially or totally fund projects for the following groups:

  • Union Valley Church will buy materials for tutoring programs.
  • The Wynne Primary/Intermediate PTA will purchase a wired PA system for the Wynne Primary School Cafeteria
  • The Cross County Arts Council will conduct a summer arts program.
  • The Girl Scouts Diamonds are planning a trip to New York City.
  • The Cross County Special Workshop will begin providing shredding for the public in an expansion of their recycling program.
  • Wynne Junior High will host a Literary Academy Awards night.
  • Three County Fair will improve sanitation at the fairgrounds.
  • The Humane Society (Wynne Friends of Animals) will improve the exercise yard.
  • Cross County Historical Society will purchase new audio/video equipment.
  • Wynne Kiwanis Club will provide pencils for students in the Wynne and Cross County School Districts for the Benchmark tests.
  • Arkansas Rice Depot will continue its work for Cross County children through Food for Kids program.
  • Cross County Literacy Program will purchase reading materials for adults.

Grants from the EFCC Housing Endowment will fund two projects:

  • The Wynne Fire Department will continue its program of placing smoke detectors in Wynne homes.
  • Habitat for Humanity will begin construction on a new home for a local family.
The EFCC Board is happy to be able to assist this diverse group of non-profit organizations whose work touches the lives of all Cross County residents.  Another round of grant will be given in the fall. Interested groups should watch for announcement sometime in July.
