Ouachita County Community Foundation has been building philanthropy in Ouachita County since 1993. The Ouachita County Community Foundation has expanded its area to included Calhoun County.  To reflect the area in which it serves, a name change was in order. The Ouachita County Community Foundation is now the Ouachita Valley Communituy Foundation.

Today, Ouachita Valley Community Foundation has 20 endowments established and total assets of over $2,000,000. We have completed our sixth year of the Partner’s Program.  We are looking forward to continuing to address challenges in the Ouachita and Calhoun County areas, through the funding of grants in the area of social services, education, the arts and local history. Examples include recent grants to such organizations as the Christian Health Center, People First Dental Fund, Ouachita County Historical Society, Bearden High School, Hampton Teen Volunteers, Ouachita Conservation District and The South Arkansas Symphony. 

This year, the Ouachita Valley Community Foundation granted $5,000.00 to the Ouachita Valley Youth Advisory Council which, in turn, was matched by the Kellogg Foundation.  The grant was made to help the youth gain an educational experience of learning to make grants to area youth and children programs through local non-profits. The Adult Youth Advisors provided guidance in the decision making process. The Youth Advisory Counsel awarded grant money to the Child Enrichment Center, 13^th Judicial District CASA, Women Crisis Center, South Arkansas Symphony, Boys and Girls Club of Ouachita County. 

We are proud of our Youth Advisory Counsel for their careful attention to the decision making process in awarding the grant money to area programs for youth and children.  The Awards were presented at our annual Donor Celebration and Grants Award Ceremony recently held in Dr. Fred Dietrict's historical home in Camden.  

Our Foundation will continue to meet our areas challenges through the awarding of grants for social services, education, the arts and local history.
