     Funds

Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation, serving Pine Bluff and the surrounding cities of Jefferson County, is an excellent vehicle for the long-term management of philanthropic funds. Our assets, over $ 4.4 million, are invested in a statewide Arkansas Community Foundation investment pool of over $120 million, with professional fund management. The income from funds is used to benefit the charitable organizations of donor's choice.

Anyone can establish an endowment with us, that will carry their name or the name of a loved one, will exist forever, and will generate income which may be granted each year to the charitable cause or organization that the donor wishes to support.  Scholarship endowments may also be established to support students who wish to continue their education. Contributions may be made to any existing fund, at any time, in any amount. All donations are tax-deductible.  Call our Executive Director for more information.

A Message From Our Executive Director

We're pleased to report that a group of Clinton School of Public Service students will be working with us on their "practicum" project this fall and into the spring of 2011. They will help us improve our discretionary grant making process.
Speaking of grants, we finished our fiscal year on June 30 with a record-smashing grant awards total: $285,799 ($270,015 if you ignore our own operating grant). The break-out of where that money was sourced, and to what end-use it was given, is presented in the pie-charts below.
Again, speaking of grants, we've instituted an on-line discretionary grant application system throughout the ARCF family. As this is written our "summer-fall" session is about to end, and we'll be reporting results shortly.

Chris Castoro, Executive Director

Grants and Scholarships: $285,799 in Fiscal Year 2010!

Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation grants are derived from a number of different kinds of funds: discretionary endowments, endowments that benefit a particular agency, donor-advised endowments, field of interest endowments and scholarships. From July '09 through June '10, the grants from all these sources totaled $285,799! The chart below shows the distribution, which can vary significantly year-to-year.

Now that we know that grants originate in a number of different types of endowments, it’s fair to ask: what kinds of agencies and causes receive these funds?

The Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation (PBACF) categorizes the grant recipients into the following: Animal Welfare and Environment; Arts & Humanities; Community Development; Education; Health and Human Services (including youth-specific projects); and Religion. Also, our own Operations are included for completeness

From July 2009 through June of 2010, the PBACF distributed $285,799 in grants and scholarships, in the following manner:
