Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation, serving Pine Bluff and the surrounding cities of Jefferson County, is an excellent vehicle for the long-term management of philanthropic funds. Our assets, over $ 4.4 million, are invested in a statewide Arkansas Community Foundation investment pool of over $120 million, with professional fund management. The income from funds is used to benefit the charitable organizations of donor's choice.
Anyone can establish an endowment with us, that will carry their name or the name of a loved one, will exist forever, and will generate income which may be granted each year to the charitable cause or organization that the donor wishes to support. Scholarship endowments may also be established to support students who wish to continue their education. Contributions may be made to any existing fund, at any time, in any amount. All donations are tax-deductible. Call our Executive Director for more information. |

A Message From Our Executive Director
You may have noticed a new look to our web site and quarterly newsletter – it’s part of an effort initiated by our parent organization, the Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF), to unify our message across the state. You see, part our strength lies in the fact that as a local office of the ARCF, we here in Pine Bluff receive the investment and back-office services that can be provided by a large organization. The ARCF has an asset value of $120 million, and with that kind of clout is able to provide for things like training, accounting, document processing, computerized record keeping and all the professional management services that our donors have come to rely on. We augment that state-wide strength here in Pine Bluff with a first-class advisory Board of Directors, who collectively help keep us tuned in to local needs and provide important personal contacts with the donors and agencies we serve. Expect more changes in the future – all of them good- that will enhance our ability to serve the people of Pine Bluff and surrounding communities in Jefferson County.

Grants and Scholarships: $218,725 in Fiscal Year 2009!
Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation grants are derived from a number of different kinds of funds: discretionary endowments, endowments that benefit a particular agency, donor-advised endowments, field of interest endowments and scholarships. In addition, in the Pine Bluff Area, we have one fund established by an anonymous resident, (the Bridge Fund) which is directed by a committee of the ARCF board (our parent organization). From July '08 through June '09, the grants from all these sources totaled $218,725! The chart below shows the distribution, which can vary significantly year-to-year.
(Excludes operating funds and internal transfers):

Now that we know that grants originate in a number of different types of endowments, it’s fair to ask: what kinds of agencies and causes receive these funds?
The Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation (PBACF) categorizes the grant recipients into the following: Animal Welfare and Environment; Arts & Humanities; Community Development; Education; Health and Human Services (including youth-specific projects); and Religion.
From July 2008 through June of 2009, the PBACF distributed $218,725 in grants and scholarships, in the following manner:
