Apply for Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation Grants

The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation makes annual grants through a fund at Arkansas Community Foundation. ABHOF grants support programs that address challenges and opportunities in the African-American community and in other underserved communities throughout Arkansas.

Who's Eligible

All geographic sections of the state are eligible, but scholarship requests will not be considered. Only 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations, hospitals, public schools and government agencies are eligible to apply. Organizations that do not qualify for tax-exempt status are not eligible.

Where We're Currently Making Grants

All geographic areas of the state are eligible.

What We're Looking For

When you apply, we’ll ask you for some basic information about your project.

  1. Proposal Background and Rationale (What community need does this program address and why was this program created?)
  2. Proposal Concept (How will this program address the community need described above? What specific activities/initiatives are involved?)
  3. Proposal Outcomes (How will you measure the success of your program in addressing this community need?)
  4. Organizational Capacity (What makes your organization uniquely qualified to address this community need and to successfully implement the proposed program?)
  5. Dissemination (Can this program be a model for other organizations addressing similar needs in their communities? If so, what is your plan to share the model?)
  6. Sustainability (How do you plan to fund this program in the future?)

You’ll also be asked to provide a project budget, list of other grants or contributions to the project, proof of tax-exempt status and list of board of directors.

Priority consideration will be given to:

  • Applications that show multiple sponsoring agencies/organizations
  • Proposals that include evidence of local financial support (including, but not limited to, in-kind support)
  • Proposals that demonstrate collaborative ventures among organizations within the community
  • Proposals that have promise for sustainability beyond the period of the grant (applications should address this issue)
  • Innovation and appropriateness of the proposed project. For example, a proposal that merely asks for computer hardware will be given lower consideration than a project that shows how the agency’s clients will participate in a number of technology projects that benefit them immediately as well as in the future.

What We're NOT Looking For

Each request is considered on its own merit. However, the following types of requests generally are not considered:

  • Support for annual fund raising campaigns
  • Support for capital campaigns
  • Projects that address sectarian religious purposes
  • Projects that are political in nature or have a political bias
  • Multi-year proposals
  • Scholarships or fellowships for formal education at any level
  • Funding for salaries

If you have questions about whether your funding request meets our guidelines, contact Program Officer Jane Jones at jjones@arcf.org.

Grant Funding Range

Grants will generally be in the $1,000 to $2,500 range but may approach $5,000.
