SCHOLARSHIPS DEADLINE EXTENDED
The Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation (PBACF), a localoffice of the Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF) announces that three of itsscholarship deadlines have been extended, until June 1st 2012
The affected scholarships are:
The Ed and Charleen Copeland Scholarship:
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be: a child or stepchild who is a legal dependentof a Central Moloney employee and a graduating high school senior or afull-time college student enrolled at an accredited two or four yearcollege/university.
The scholarship may be used for valid school relatedexpenses to further the recipient’s education at an accreditedcollege/university. The scholarship amount is generally $1,000 but may behigher. Academic performance, demonstration of good communityleadership/involvement, potential to succeed in college, good character, extracurricular activities and ability tosucceed are the primary factors considered, although none are a determiningfactor. The scholarship winner mustremain a full-time student throughout the year of the scholarship or thescholarship will be forfeited
The William A. & Genevieve H. Strong Scholarship:
This scholarship is intended to support a math majorat the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB). Graduating High School seniorswho will attend UAPB and enrolling or current students at UAPB are eligible toapply. If you are an entering freshman or a sophomore you should show evidencein your essay and in your course selections of your intent to major inmathematics. Third-year or higher UAPB students must have a declared major inmathematics. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees and books expense tofurther the education of recipients at UAPB. Financial need, academicachievement, and community leadership are the primary factors considered, but noneare a determining factor. Students who make their permanent home in the PineBluff area or have graduated from a high school in the Pine Bluff area will begiven priority. The award is between $500- $1,000 per year and may be renewed.
Robert P. Atkinson Hospital Leadership Scholarship:
Students Pursuing a masters level or above degree with anemphasis on healthcare/ hospital administration are eligible to apply.Eligible students may be from Southeast Arkansas and/or interested in returningto Southeast Arkansas upon completion of their education. The scholarship willbe for customary college expenses, including room, board, tuition, fees andbooks. Financial need, community leadership, and the potential to succeed incollege are the primary factors considered, although none are a determiningfactor. Students must provide allinformation requested in the application

Strong Scholarship: Intended to benefit a student who will major in mathematics at UAPB. Current UAPB students, or Jefferson County high school seniors may apply. The award is typically $500 to $1,000 This scholarship is renewable. | - Copeland Scholarship: Children of current Central Moloney employees are eligible to apply. Value is about $1,000

- Atkinson Scholarship: This scholarship is for graduate-level students who wish to become health/ hospital administrators, and who have a connection with Southeast Arkansas. The award is $5,000 for one year or $10,000 for two years of study leading to a Master's degree.
