MCCF Receives Award

Monroe County Community Foundation was recently selected by local farmer Dewayne Chappell as the America’s Farmers Grow Communities recipient for Monroe County, and was awarded a $2,500 contribution from the Monsanto Fund.

America’s Farmers Grow Communities is a way to recognize farmers and the vital role they play in caring for our land and growing our economy.

Arkansas has the highest rate of child food insecurity in the country and 17.7% of Arkansas households struggle to provide food for their families.   Monroe County residents are no different from other Arkansans struggling to feed their families.  MCCF, as the recipient of this donation, plans to deposit the award into our Stop Hunger Endowment. We will distribute a portion of this award to the various food pantries operating here in Monroe County. This award to the local food pantries will help them to further serve the needy in our area.

We would like to thank Mr. Chappell for nominating MCCF for this award, and also to thank the Monsanto Fund for funding this monetary award.
