Giving Tree Grant Supports School Visit from Miss Arkansas

Alyse Eady, Miss Arkansas and first runner-up to Miss America, recently spoke to students at Brinkley and Clarendon schools.  She also performed her talent, her self-taught ventriloquism.  She and her “friends” entertained the students with singing and yodeling.

Alyse said that as a teen, she had dreams for herself and was willing to work hard to achieve her goals.  She also stressed to the students that education can take you anywhere if you are willing to work hard and follow your dreams. She encouraged the students to do something after high school – college, trade school or the military.

She also spoke to the students on the importance and value of volunteerism, as she has been a part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America since the age of five.

Miss Eady said that being a part of the Miss America pageant was a “once in a lifetime” experience for her.  As she awaited the judge’s decision, she experienced a surreal feeling of peace, because she knew even if she did not win, she would still be Miss Arkansas and be able to continue doing the things that are her passion.  After completing her time as Miss Arkansas, she will use the scholarship money that she received through her pageants to further her education.

Since winning first runner-up, Alyse has also made appearances on The David Letterman show, The Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC, and is set for some guest appearances in Las Vegas with Terry Fator at the Mirage in Las Vegas.

Miss Eady’s engagement was made available through a Giving Tree grant in Monroe County.
