Funds Available for Charitable Programs in Pope County
Community Foundation Accepting Online Grant Applications Jan. 10 – Feb. 15
Russellville, Ark. (January 4, 2017) – Nonprofits in Pope County can go to arcf.org beginning January 10 to apply online for Giving Tree Grants through Pope County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation. Applications must be submitted online by Feb. 15.
“Through local Giving Tree grants, our state’s nonprofit organizations have a homegrown place to turn for help implementing great ideas,” said Heather Larkin, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Giving Tree grants are selected by local people in each of our affiliate communities and awarded to local organizations.”
Nonprofits can visit arcf.org/givingtree to view Giving Tree grant submission guidelines and begin the application process. Any IRS 501(c)(3) public charity, public school, government agency or hospital in Pope County is eligible to apply. Other applicants may be considered if the project has a clear charitable purpose for the public benefit. Grants are not made to individuals. Applications will be reviewed by a grant making committee from Pope County Community Foundation.
“Our Giving Tree grants will generally range from $500.00 to $5,000.00,” said Madelyn Ginsberg, Executive Director. “Last year, our committee awarded grants to help numerous worthy causes such as the CASA Christmas party that was recently held for area foster children; updating the computer lab at the Boys and Girls Club of the Arkansas River Valley; and The Russ Bus’s transitional living facility. We are looking forward to receiving the applications and awarding grants to help improve our community.”
In fiscal year 2016, Arkansas Community Foundation and its 27 affiliates awarded more than $674,000 in Giving Tree grants across the state. Funding for the Giving Tree program comes from hundreds of Arkansas donors who support the work of the Community Foundation.
